Claude M. “Matt” Winters, 16, a resident of 1024 Fate Washington Road, was accidentally drowned Saturday, May 23 while on a family outing at White Lake.
A native of Stem, a member of the First Baptist Church in Butner and a tenth grade student at Granville Central High School in Stem.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, May 26th at the First Baptist Church in Butner by Rev. Lenny Rogers.  Burial will follow in Community Gardens Cemetery in Stem.
Surviving are his parents, Claude P. “Toppy” Winters and Barbara Wilder Winters of Stem, a brother, Lucas Winters of the home, maternal grandparents, Troy and Sandra Walker Wilder of Butner, paternal step-grandmother, Sylvia Beck of Wilton, Uncle, James Alan Wilder of Butner, several great aunts and uncles. Claude P “Bro” Winters Jr. and Bobbie Jean Stevens preceded him in death.
